This collection consists of correspondence from Helen Northrop, a teacher at the State Home for Orphans in Twin Bridges, Mont. to her parents Rufus and Agnus Northrop of Tunkhannock, Penn. In her correspondence she describes her journey to Twin Bridges as well as her activities while living and working in the community. (SC 2456)

Helen Northrop was born in 1870 to Rufus and Agnus Northrop of Tunkhannock, Penn. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College and took a position as a teacher at the State Home for Orphans in Twin Bridges, Mont. During her time at Twin Bridges she boarded with John R. and Frances M. Comfort. Comfort served as the secretary of the board of trustees for the orphans' home. Northrop returned to Tunkhannock by 1900 where she worked as the secretary of UNCA. She married Marcus Adams sometime before 1910 ...
